Hi Forum,

Do we have any way of knowing what makes up the ‘Package Service Charge’?

In this case we have a customer with a shipment that was around $20 and the service charge was $41.16. The customer wants to know why but I have no clue how to figure that out.

Thanks,
Fab

Ground shipments to Canada have the VAT (Value Added Taxes) added into the total cost. See the attached screenshot of a sample shipment dialed up at FedEx.com and what that entails.

I don't think ShipRush breaks it down so much.

so there is no way when using the SDK i can get back the fedex Service Charge amount. Its also my understanding that this number is no included in the ShippingCharges property. Is this true?

ShippingCharges returns the total.

Maybe refer to these properties: RateAdditionalCharges, RateBaseCharges and RateMarkup

To be clear, I need to confess that I am not certain what you refer to by "Service Charge amount."

The total shipping cost returned by ShipRush should be the same as the total shipping cost returned by fedex.com.

ShipRush often cannot calculate import duties, but it does (generally) calculate fees associated with the shipment.

Note: The system used to calculate rates is the FedEx servers. If they don't provide certain info, ShipRush doesn't have it either.
