View Full Version : Confusing, inconsistent search results in my.shiprush.com

I'm not sure if I don't understand how the search works or not, but everyone here is pretty confused about finding shipments in my.shiprush.com - to the point where they will instead go to the shipping computers and search there instead of searching the website from their desks. Is there some basic rules about how the searching/filtering works that I don't understand? For example, if I want to find a recent shipment to Louisville, KY I may just type in a search string of "Louisville" and it will come back with a single shipment from last year. But if I click on Shipped->Carriers->UPS on the left hand side and scroll through the list I can see a recent shipment to Louisville from last week. What is going on here?

I have this question submitted to development. It's possible that City is not part of the search environment. If it is not, I'll ask them if it can be. Case 35609

Thank you,

Shark,

Can you tell us all the different things you search on?

We want to do this right.

(As mentioned, city and state are not searchable at the moment.)

The office people usually use my.shiprush.com to look up a tracking number for a customer that perhaps didn't get the shipment email because it was not a normal order shipment or they deleted the email or it went to spam, etc... We often search on order no, name, city, or zipcode - usually we try different search strings because we can't find shipments that we know are in there. Most people in the office just don't trust it and instead go to the shipping computers in the warehouse and search shipments directly in the ShipRush application.

I have found that if I load my.shiprush.com and type in a search string (city, business name) it will often not find anything. At other times I find that if I click to view all shipments for the month, for example, and then perform the same search string again on business name that it will then show up. It seems there is some filtering/searching going on and data caching or something that I just don't understand and is confusing. Please see the screen shot of a shipment below.

Consider this shipment:

If I load the website and search on "nexa country" I get no results. If I click one of the links on the left, such as Carriers -> UPS and then search, it will find a result, but it comes up mostly blank:

The search is a little slow as well. I think it would be a nice optimization to have a control or selection to search within a specific time period, such as a day, week, or month. Perhaps this is the purpose of the filters on the left, but if so it doesn't seem to speed up the search very much (if at all). Perhaps a more explicit control on the screen that allows for searching for a particular string within a certain time period, and queries that are optimized to search within that date range, would go a long way towards making this a much more reliable and useful tool. Full-text search capabilities on the table, for all address fields, would be a nice addition as well.

One more minor request, since we are usually responding to an email requesting a tracking number, it sure would be nice if I could actually perform a copy/paste of the tracking number displayed on the main screen. For some reason copy/paste is disabled there and we usually click the link to view the shipment and then copy/paste from that screen.

Thanks,
David

Thank you. I have passed that information along to development.
