HELP! I'm getting an error message that reads "Unable to connect to Shiprush server: the operation timed out - url http://work:1123/SOAP/IBoldsynapse - SOAPAction:urn:BoldSynapseInterface-IBoldSynapse#SignOn". When first launching Shiprush, a window is opening (prior to this error message) asking me to select a connection method, which normally does not happen. I tried re-storing my pc to a previous day, but it's still not working. Please help.

Thanks!

are you using XP, and have you applied Service Pack 2? If so, that may be the issue:

ShipRush fails to connect to the ShipRush server from a workstation:

Errors might include (from window pop up or error log):
- CRITICAL (Connect) The operation timed out - URL:http://server:1123/SOAP/IBoldSynapse - SOAPAction:urn:BoldSynapseInterface-IBoldSynapse#SignOn
- SQL server does not exist or access denied.
- Login failed. Catalog information cannot be retrieved.

Upon looking at the server PC, it is XP. XP comes with its own built in firewall. If this is enabled on the ShipRush Server PC, that can cause an issue.
Service Pack 2 of XP automatically sets this to enabled (on).

Resolution:
Control Panel | Network Connection | Local Area Connection | Properties
Go to the Advanced Tab and see if this is enabled
If so, you will need to configure to allow connection for ShipRush from the workstation(s)

Click Settings | Exceptions
Click Add Program
Find ShipRush v3 and select - click OK

You may also need to add a port for ShipRush
Click Add Port
Name: ShipRush Port
Port Number: 1123
Click OK

Now ShipRush should be able to connect from the workstation

Hi Scott,

My computer is having this same problem when trying to install v4 - I get a "This operation Timed Out" error message.

The first indication that the installation was not working properly was when I downloaded it from the zfirm website. It asked me to update (which it did not ask with the others) and it never asked me for company info to fill in nor the license # as it did with the other machines that I updated.

The second problem: I followed your instructions above and when I went to Advanced Settings in the firewall, v4 was not listed nor was it listed when I clicked Browse. I checked my Program Files folder and it is installed.

What do I do?

Thanks

If it asked you to update, that means ShipRush v4 was already installed. You are wanting to install ShipRush FedEx v4 correct (this is the UPS forum)?

In dealing with firewall, you will need to allow program files\z-firm llc\shiprush v4\shiprush4.exe and possibly shiprushserver.exe (if this is a server installation). You will also need to allow port 1124.

Do you want me to direct my messages to the FedEx section?

Before reinstalling, I deleted v4 from Program files, Start menu, and Add/Remove Programs. Shouldn't that have wiped everything out? The reason it may have been on my system is that I started installing it first and then realized I needed to install it on the Server first, so deleted it from everywhere I thought it could have been.

Still getting The timed Out Error. My Program Files - v4 folder does not have the .exe files you mentioned above. I allowed the 1124 port but don't understand why I didn't have to go through all this with the other computers as we all have same security on them (e.g., service pak 2, etc...).

Thanks,

It should at least have shiprush4.exe (may not see the .exe extension) if the program is launching.

When you removed it, did you remove it via Add\Remove Programs or just delete the folders? That may also have an impact.

Another thing to try on this particular PC:
Add\Remove Programs - Remove ShipRush FedEx v4
Delete program files\z-firm llc\shiprush v4
Delete c:\documents and settings\username\application data\z-firm llc\shiprush v4 folder

Reboot and install

Like I mentioned, I deleted it from Add/Remove Programs and the whole v4 Program File. There are no z-firm folders in c:\documents and settings\username\application data. Actually, I have: c:\documents and settings\All Users or Defuault Users (not username), but when I open both Application Data folders in either folder, there is no z-firm folder.

I did already add the Firewall Exception to the only file in the v4 folder that was called shiprush4, but it did not work.

Thanks!

If it works on other PCs, but just not this one, then we are dealing with an environmental issue of some type.

If you install and launch ShipRush FedEx v4, it will need to create the folder under application data\z-firm llc\shiprush v4. If it does not\cannot create that folder, there is a serious issue on that PC.

When I stated username before, it would be the username that you log on with, like klm or bob, etc. Do you have a folder under documents and settings with your user login name? If so, that is where the application data\z-firm llc\shiprush v4 folder will reside.

Ohhh! It's called Owner on my computer. I did find the z-firm folder and I set the firewall to allow the shiprush4 file. Still getting:

The operation timed out - URL:http://SNAP:1124/SOAP/IBoldSynapse - SOAPAction:urn:BoldSynapseInterface-IBoldSynapse#SignOn

I've now added the 1124 port and added the shiprush4 file.

Hmmm....???

Is the ShipRush FedEx v4 "server" called SNAP?

It is certainly a connection problem from this PC to the ShipRush FedEx v4 server\data.

Does it then prompt you with a connection settings window? If so, see if you can change the servername from SNAP to the IP address of the ShipRush FedEx v4 server.

Yes, server name is SNAP. It does connect me with a settings window. What is the IP address or where do I find it?

You could open a command prompt and type in " ping snap" and hit enter

It should return with the IP address.

How many other computers is ShipRush on and working?

SR is on 4 other computers including the server.

How do you open a command prompt...Start\Run?

I tried the IP address and it is still timing out.

start | run | type in cmd and hit enter

If you close ShipRush on a couple other computers, does it then connect from this workstation?

No. It's open on the server only and it still does not work. I need to leave very soon. Is there anything else we can try?

Your post yesterday said that I need to call in. We talked on Tuesday and you said that you would be calling me on Thursday morning. Are you still able to do that?

Thanks,
Karen
