Thread: Label to PDF, can the file name and/or file location be controlled?

  1. #1
When printing labels to PDF is there any option to specify the file name and/or where the file is stored?

With the built in Save to PDF, no.

You can install a PDF printer, and set ShipRush to print to the PDF printer. The PDF printer will give you those options (save to location and name). A good PDF printer that's available out there is PDFCreator.

What would you like the filename to be based on when ShipRush creates it?

I have pushed that to development to see if we can expand the print to PDF functionality as a feature request. Case 31136

Can you help us with a few questions?

    - How many pdf labels do you do per day?
    - Do you print them, or do you send them to someone else to print?
    - What kind of printer do you use?
    - How does the file name help you?

    Thank you

I can print from one to a dozen or more labels at a time.

Some I print locally others I PDF to send to the warehouse to print and ship from there. These remote printed PDF labels I change the file name to include the date and description of the item being shipped to help eliminate errors.

Locally I print to a Dymo 4XL thermal printer, remotely the PDF files are printed to a Zebra 2844.

Having a meaningful file label helps eliminate errors when selecting to attach to emails and when remotely selecting to print.
