Thread: Address Verification

  1. #1
I have been having an issue from time to time with the ShipRush software giving me an error message for a correct address. It will say something along the lines of, "please check address, it does not appear to be a valid address for shipping". I then double check the address and confirm it is correct, and then ship either through USPS (outside of ShipRush) or FedEx, and have a timely delivery. I checked the settings, and I have the lowest possible address verification listed. Is there anything else I can do? Thank you for your help.

Are you using ShipRush Stamps? That is being validated against their address validation database they have.

You may be able to go into settings | shipping settings | address validation and turn off the validation for that one shipment.

You could also send that address information to us at support at shiprush dot com. We can test it here, and report the troublesome address to Stamps.com as well.

That is the setting I tried to adjust, but I have the issue even with the least stringent settings. It sounds like it's a Stamps.com problem, and I'll just have to deal with it. It's not worth sending you guys an address each time I run into the problem. Thank you for your time.

This is no surprise, Address Verification has been broken for sometime since switching from Endicia to stamps. I shut off verification once they allowed the option to do so because of how many addresses were turning up as not valid. I think they need to update the database.

I am not a ShipRush customer but perhaps if enough users contacted ShipRush they would look into this issue. I work for an address verification company (SmartyStreets) and would love for people to have an option to choose which address verification service to use.

Turning it off is certainly an option, but not the best one. Being able to override any address that is being handle incorrectly should ALWAYS be an option. Let the end user have the final say about the validity of the address. Address verification should be used as a tool to help achieve better addresses, NOT as an impenetrable blockade.

We offer our services FREE to all non-profit organizations and we have different levels based on volume, from free up to unlimited.

Bottom line, if you are interested in better address verification through ShipRush, let them know about it.

I have the same issue. Even with validation turned off, it will sometimes give the error message. I think the error is coming from USPS. The message says something like "USPS server returned error: Please check address. The address validation system could not validate..."
