Thread: Possible to not have order automatically marked shipped on Amazon after label create?

  1. #1
We are needing to have our Amazon orders not be marked as shipped until after the package has actually been picked up by FedEx and is considered in transit. Is there a setting I can change to make this happen?

I feel like an easy way to solve this would be to add an option that only sends the tracking data to Amazon after we've 'closed day' which I don't see as an option anymore either. We could make our labels as we ship during the day and then once FedEx has picked up at the end of the day we could simply hit 'Close Day' and then all of the relevant shipping data would get uploaded to Amazon.

Amazon's policy states that the order information is to ONLY be updated when the item has actually been shipped out and this has created an issue for us recently. As long as ShipRush is automatically updating Amazon every time we create a label, ShipRush is having us break Amazon policy.

Is there a way to fix this or to change these settings?

There isn't a setting for this. Do you have specific documentation stating that tracking info and marking as Shipped in Amazon can only happen after the carrier has the package? I've read through several forums\threads in the Amazon side and I find no mention of this requirement and the times that it has impacted a seller is creating a label on Friday and not shipping the item until next Monday\Tuesday type of scenario.

    I think you need to be logged in to a seller account to see this;

    https://sellercentral.amazon.com/gp/..._cont_sgsearch

Promptly after shipment of a customer's order (or any portion of the customer's order), Seller will accurately inform Amazon.com that the order has been shipped (and, in the case of a customer order that is shipped in more than one shipment, accurately inform Amazon.com which portion of the order has been shipped), using the standard functionality made available by Amazon.com for communicating such information ("Confirmation of Shipment").
We just had our account reviewed for a few reasons and they stated that one of the things they noticed was that we were having orders marked as shipped prior to them actually being shipped. I confirmed this with them and also called to speak with a few different customer service reps and they all stated that the orders had to be marked shipped after FedEx had picked up the item or after we had dropped it off at the post office. I mentioned the fact that we were using a 3rd party software that automatically updates the tracking information once a label is created and they all said that we would have to enter in the tracking information manually after the item has actually been shipped even though we have daily pickups with FedEx and even though we will be creating labels only hours before an item is picked up by FedEx.

Thank you for the additional information. We have this question opened internally, Case 44127 and have submitted it to Amazon for additional clarification.

Thank you. This was sort of a shock to us today as well seeing as we've be making labels in the morning and then using them to ship products during the day for the last 7 years and it had never been an issue.

    a) The ShipRush team will solve this

    b) Are you printing labels for shipments that are not tendered to FedEx same day?

Future day shipping (printing labels on a Tuesday for shipments that will not be picked up by FedEx until Wed or Thurs) is an issue we would need to manage for. Does this apply to your situation?

Thanks for your quick action on this matter.

At this time we are only printing labels that are going to for sure be shipped that say day. We don't currently print any future labels like your example either.

If we could make labels when we first get into the office in morning and then not have the information automatically sent back to Amazon after each label that would be a good start. We don't have too many orders and we could enter the tracking numbers manually on our end. The aspect of having all of the order and address information being pulled in saves us the most amount of time and is the feature we are most needing.

If you could implement it so that at the end of day there is a 'Close Day' button that would at that point in time send all of the label info from that day over to Amazon, that would be perfect. Or if we could even schedule a specific time for the information to automatically be uploaded and marked shipped.

Would you have a time frame on this at all? We're still using ShipRush to make our labels, we're just doing 'blank form' labels at this point and entering in the information manually.

    ZF Case 44127

    This is being actively investigated.

Please allow a couple of business days for us to get to the bottom of it.

Nothing at the moment. We are still working with Amazon on this question so we make sure we get the proper answer.
