Thread: Rates Are Higher Than Rack Rates On UPS.com

  1. #1
When I rate the following shipment on UPS.com I get a Ground rate of $10.90. When I rate and process the exact same shipment in ShipRush I get a Ground rate of $16.53. Why would rack UPS.com rates be cheaper than account specific rates using ShpRush? I did notice that ShipRush is saying this ship to address is residential, which is incorrect. This ship to is a business, and it rates that way on UPS.com. Even if you remove the residential fee of $3.40, the rate using ShipRush is still $2.23 higher versus UPS.com rack rates.

    Ship From:
    Davenport, IA 52806

    Ship To:
    1006 N HIGH ST
    PORT BYRON, IL 61275

    Weight - 1 pound
    Dimenstions - 8x6x4

    Thanks,
    Chris

Something about the rating in ShipRush is telling UPS different information. The rate seen in ShipRush should be to the penny with what you see at ups.com when set to use list rates in the settings and are displaying list rates at ups.com.

I get the same rates when comparing with our UPS account here. I do see that we do flag the address as residential based on the address validation being done by the UPS servers, but it doesn't change the rate shown since this address has DAS being applied to it.

Make sure to check in settings that you don't have a rate markup set and also check to see what rates have been set to display. That will be on the UPS account in shipping settings.

There is no rate markup set. I am looking at the UPS Account in shipping settings, and I don't see anywhere to control what rates to display. I didn't make any changes to the account when it was setup in ShipRush, so everything should be using the default settings.

Is this ShipRush UPS Basic or Pro?

For Basic, go into settings | shipping settings. It will be focused on your UPS account. The option should be at the top of that screen.

Version of ShipRush UPS Basic? That looks like an older version. Newer versions of ShipRush UPS Basic have support on the right for Mail Innovations and Surepost as well. Should probably update to current for ShipRush if possible.

Version 11.0.8.7313. Upgrading to a newer version is not an option right now. I am using the 2017 rates, so the version really shouldn't make a difference, correct?

That means you're using Pro if you have 2017 rates loaded into a folder for ShipRush. Basic gets the rates directly from the UPS servers.

Did you modify the rate files to get closer to Contract Rates? If not, they are the published rates for UPS.

The rates have not been modified. I just loaded the 2017 rates again to make sure. When I prepare the shipment in ShipRush the estimated cost shows as $10.94. When I click Ship the rate jumps up to $16.53. Is there a log file that breaks down the cost that would explain why the rate jumps from 10.94 to 16.53 after clicking Ship?

No log for the shipment creation. If you're on the machine, we can do a remote to review what data being used in ShipRush to try and pinpoint the issue further.

You can give a call into Customer Service at 206.812.7874 and ask for senior support.

    Thank you,
