Thread: Moving database from shared to standalone

  1. #1
    Hi Support.

We have a customer who has a shared database environment. The shared ShipRush database is on their server. One of the user's called ShipRush and someone told the person to upgrade. Upgrading his PC also upgraded the database and now the other user cannot use ShipRush due to different versions. Is there someway to have the user on v9 of ShipRush to redirect his PC to his own database versus the shared one? We would like to resolve this issue in a two stage approach. Shipping is very important. I would like to have the one PC continue to process shipments on v9 and then see if our software integration will work with ShipRush v12.1.

    Any insight is greatly appreciated.

    Thank you.

Sure. On the machine that you want to point locally, browse out to C:\Users\Public\Documents\Z-Firm LLC\ShipRush and edit ShipRushConnectionSettings.ini

Make sure this is set to False: <IsRemoteDBISAM>False</IsRemoteDBISAM>

Adjust <DBISAMPath>c:\users\public\documents\Z-Firm LLC\ShipRush\Database\</DBISAMPath> so that it points to their local database location. Now, if this was setup at one time with a local database, you may want to rename the existing database folder and let ShipRush create a new one.

    HTH,

Did you recommendation plus more. ShipRushserver location need to be changed but not sure where to properly do that. Change it in the shiprushserver.ini file but when I run the ShipRushDBManager it doesn't recognize the database as a good type. Had renamed the Database directory in C:\Users\Public\Documents\Z-Firm LLC\ShipRush. Any suggestions?

If you need to adjust the db location for the service, that is the correct file, located under c:\program files\z-firm llc\shiprush v9. Shouldn't need to use the ShipRushDBManager since you're having ShipRush make a new database locally. That happens when you start up ShipRush itself. It's possible the database hasn't been created, so the DBManager may give an error.

So now, after a PC reboot and trying to use ShipRush, it is going thru the setup screens. Concern is how will UPS Pro get commissioned based on the fact that the ShipRush version is 9?

Ughhh...that completely slipped my brain there.

Do you have access to the database on the server? If so, can you grab a copy of the backup folder and call into support? The old database will need to be restored on the local machine before the upgrade that occurred on the server location.

I have access to the customer's server. Tried to call you but the greeting indicated that "support" is in a staff meeting until 2:00 PM PST. Unfortunately, the customer is on EST. Can we pick this up first AM Monday? What time is support available?
