Thread: Unable to print to local Zebra from RDS

  1. #1
We have been able to print to our local Zebra printer from the desktop we are remoted in to. But, only a sample text file located on the remote machine's desktop. We want to print labels from NAV running on the remote computer. I have made the Easyprint change in group policy on the remote computer (http://www.zfirm.com/Knowledge_Bases.../SRXA-0464.txt). After making that change we received an error: Access Violation at address 222E7D5D in module Zrush1.ocx read address 0049414E. Any suggestions? Thanks

Are you able to print to a remote paper printer from the label printer settings area? Select laser\inkjet, select printer, and do a test print. Please also be sure to do this test directly from ShipRush from the system tray.

If the above works, try changing that to the Zebra printer with the test button. Any error?

Thank you for your help. Remote printing to the Zebra is working now. Per you suggestions, here is what we did:

Use the Group Policy Editor on the host/Terminal Server to disable Easy Print (this step
should be done by your Windows System Administrator -- ShipRush support is not authorized
to make system changes of this kind):
    1) Log out of all remote desktop sessions to this host.
    2) On the host. As administrator run gpedit.msc
    3) Navigate to:
Computer Configuration | Administrative templates |
Windows Components | Remote Desktop Services |
Remote Desktop Session Host | Printer Redirection
    4) Locate the setting: "Use Remote Desktop Easy Print printer driver first"
    5) Typically, this setting is "Not Configured"
    6) Change this setting to: "Disabled"
    Test:
Start a new remote desktop session. Printing to the Zebra printer
    should now work.

However, if additional troubleshooting should be needed:
Check that the remote PC (the one that runs remote desktop) can do a test print from the Zebra printer
    in its local printers folder.
    3) Use remote desktop to connect to the terminal server
    4) Now, in the remote session, do a test print to the locally connected Zebra. (E.g. from the Printers
folder on the host terminal server to the printer locally connected to the remote rdesktop system.)
    5) If all goes well, now, in ShipRush, set the printer type to Laser printer (yes, for real), and
set the printer to the Zebra on the remote desktop system. Do a test print, and adjust margins
    as appropriate.
