Thread: Data Execution Prevention (DEP) error launching ShipRush7.exe

  1. #1
When I have DEP enabled on my Vista 64-bit SP2 OS, I cannot launch ShipRush7.exe.

If I turn off DEP, ShipRush7.exe launches and works fine.

    ShipRush 7.0.0.31025

An Application Error event is in the event log:

You should be able to have DEP on for the OS, and you can set DEP off for this one application, via the advanced properties on the ShipRush program icon.

To troubleshoot an unrelated problem, I had set DEP AlwaysOn (apparently ShipRush.exe executes from a data page somewhere because it throws an exception when DEP is AlwaysOn). Once I returned DEP to OptOut, the exception went away.

    ciao

Ohhhhhhhhhhh, that is not a default setting in Windows.

That will cause various issues with various apps... Probably not a useful production setting...
