Thread: ShipRush for UPS Pro Network Setup Question

  1. #1
    Hello,

We've been trying the ShipRush UPS Pro program in the demo version. We love it, but I have a couple of questions, before I purchase it for our office.

If we want to network the workstations that have shiprush installed. Can I setup Shiprush on our Windows Server 2008 R2, and have it server the data to the workstations?

If that is possible, do I have to pay for the copy of shiprush sitting on the server? It will never be used by anyone, it will just sit there to serve the data.

Also, in case it matters we have SQL Server 2008 R2 on this server. Just wondering if it could server the data instead?

One final question, when shipping a package is there anyway to keep the shiprush window up after it's entered? We usually ship several packages at once, and it's a pain to go down to the taskbar to select another shipment to enter.

    Thanks,
    Daniel

No, as long as ShipRush isn't running in the system tray. Acting just as the "server" for the database, no additional license needed.

No sorry. ShipRush cannot be hosted onto a different database backend.

What or how are you using ShipRush (integrated with a contact manager or accounting solution, or tied directly into a SQL database)?

    Hello,

Thank you for the quick answers to my questions.

We will be using Shiprush tied to a SQL database, in our final setup. Right now we are just using it standalone for testing.

    Thanks,
    Daniel

If tied into a SQL backend, there's a setting in program settings | cm settings to reopen the search window after shipping, so you don't have to click the icon in the system tray each time.

Thanks again for the quick response.

So does that mean until we get the SQL backend hooked up, there is no way to keep the window open?

You would be correct. Stand alone doesn't have any setting to reopen the window after shipment. When tied into SQL, we have a search window that is grabbing the data (typically) and you select which one you'll ship.
