Thread: 3rd Party / Blind Shipping

  1. #1
We are needing to ship blind for a customer. Fedex tells me that in their software you can change the return address and leave the sender address to be the actual sending address. Then on the label, the return shows while the shipping cost is calculated on the sender address and does not mess up Fedex. Can Ship Rush do this? In my testing, I only see one address - sender address.

In the ShipRush GUI and settings, you can only set the From or profiles, and that address is used to calculate the shipping cost.

Well, that sucks. How about not showing the address on the label? Can I have that removed? Fedex doesn't care if it shows.

The usual way to do this is to set the FROM company and contact to what you need (other company name, generic name, whatever). ShipRush Profiles can be used to set up presets for this.

Some folks put something generic like "Fulfillment Center"

There are 100's of ShipRush sites doing this.

Yes, but the end customer would still see the address and could google it and find out who you are. We are trying to ship "BLIND" so that the recieving company does not know.

It might be that we need to use Fedex's web service and build this.

You can set the FROM address to whatever you want... maybe set it to something that works for you?

You can't set the FROM address to whatever you want... This address has to be the address it is being sent from to let Fedex know where it started from. Also, it is used to estimate the cost of the shipment. My Fedex rep tells me that on the Fedex Ship Manager software there is a From/Sender address and a return address. She says that I could change the return address (the one that shows on the label) and leave the sender address alone and this would fix the issue on Fedex's software. I was hoping to do the same on Ship Rush.

Yes, the FedEx software has more options in this regard than ShipRush has.

Many folks use the FROM address the way we describe in this thread. (Yes, it can throw your rates off; and Yes, FedEx would prefer that it map to the origination physical address; and also Yes, shippers set it to other addresses all the time, and it works out fine.)

We are aware of the options in the FedEx software you describe, and may support them in a future version of ShipRush.

Can I at least remove the address from the label and not show any from / sender address? I have to have the info in the fields, just don't want them showing on the label. If not, can you please, please, please add this feature?

Apologies for the slow response on this.

We would absolutely love to have the features you need. The call for this feature is on the small side (because the issue can be worked around rather easily), but we would still love to do it.

We are currently tied up getting v9 out the door. The research here on this feature is under ZF Case 23923
